After a good Scottish breakfast, we packed a picnic basket and headed for St. Andrews. The ride took us past sunny fields and flowering meadows. We crossed the River Earn and saw the Forth of Tay in the distance.
Aberfeldy is one of our favourite villages on the River Tay. We especially recommend the route from Gilmerton via Amulree to Aberfeldy (A822 - A826). It goes through narrow mountain valleys, past rivers and lakes (lochs) offering many beautiful viewpoints.
Perth has many points of interests and lies on the banks of the River Tay in the heart of Scotland. Perth’s galleries and museums, concert Hall, Scone Palace, castles and beautiful gardens invite you to enjoy and discover. This small city is a very good place for shopping with an abundance of unquiet small shops.
Crieff is a traditional market town in the beautiful area of Strathearn and has a long history. Rob Roy MacGregor, a legacy highlander visited Crieff offen to sell cattle as well as Charles Edward Stuart - also known as the Bonny Prince Charlie held his final war council in the old Drummond Arms in Crieff.
Tibbermore is a small village near Perth and Tibbermore Parish Church dates from 1632. The Graveyard contains many monuments of interest e.g. the memorial of James Ritchie. In front of the church is a beautiful old archway. You can enjoy peace and silence at the graveyard. The church is normally closed, but it opens by arrangement e.g. for wedding or...
